Jonathan Andrew JENSEN Obituary (1987

Jonathan Andrew Jensen (1987-2025) Jonathan Andrew Jensen, 38, passed away peacefully at his home in East Wenatchee, Washington, surrounded by family on August 3rd, 2025. Jonathan, otherwise known as "Drew" by close family and friends, was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. You were lucky if you got to meet him with his infectious smile, his laugh, and his sense of humor. He was always willing to try anything and would do anything to help a friend or family member. Jonathan was the one that you would call if you needed advice and wanted the truth. Jonathan was born on February 14th, 1987, in Bend, Oregon to parents Theresa Holcomb and Jonathan "Tony" Jensen. He graduated from Edwin Brown High School and immediately joined the Marine Corps. Jonathan had a sense of wanting to defend this country after the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. He also wanted to get out of Oregon and do something exciting with his life. He served this country from 2005 to 2010 in Ramadi, Iraq, as a mortarman and as a security force guard squad leader. Jonathan earned numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he was a source of inspiration to all who knew him. He received many medals, badges, and ribbons such as the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Certificate of Commendation Rifle Qualification Badge (4th award) and Pistol Qualification Badge (sharpshooter) just to name a few. After the military, Jonathan did many jobs ranging from commercial fishing, to cabinetry, to garbage truck driver, to big rig truck driving, and deep-sea scuba diving as a dive master. Jonathan met the love of his life and best friend, Samantha, in 2021 while attending diving school in Seattle, WA. After a short time together, Jonathan moved to East Wenatchee to start a new life. He proposed to Samantha in October of 2022, and they eventually married two years later on October 24th, 2024, in Wenatchee, Washington. Jonathan assumed the role of stepfather to Samantha's three children without question. He loved those children and would do anything for them, including going to school conferences, sporting events, and helping with homework. Jonathan and Samantha had the kind of love that fit together like a puzzle piece. They were not only best friends, but they were true partners in every sense of the word. They never fought and always did everything together. This was the life and family that he always wanted and dreamed of having. Jonathan loved watching football, especially watching his favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings. Jonathan fulfilled his lifelong dream of watching them play live in person in Minnesota at US Bank Stadium. Jonathan loved to have fun, whether it was dancing in the living room with the music turned up loud, going to the ocean and gathering pockets full of sand dollars, or hosting Thanksgiving at his house. Jonathan's favorite part of the day is when Samantha would come home in the evenings and they would talk all night about what happened at work, what drama happened in the family, and what was going on in the world. At the end of Jonathan's life, his last wishes were to pass away peacefully in the comfort of his own home and to be able to walk again. He accomplished both of those goals. Samantha was able to stay home and take care of him until he took his last breath. Jonathan will always be remembered for his comforting words, hard truth, and fun spirit. His memory will live on in the hearts of all of those who loved him. Jonathan was preceded in death by his grandmother Sigrid Jensen. He is survived by his wife Samantha Jensen, stepchildren Ames Austin, Aylee Austin, and Loic Austin, his son's Jordan Jensen and Ezra Krall, his mother Terrie Moriarty (Melody Huntley), his father Tony Jensen (Ashlee), his brother Michael Jensen (Alisha) and his sister Jenna Jensen, and his nieces and nephews Aubree, Greyson, Abbie, and Kane. Jonathan will be laid to rest with his military brothers and sisters at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington, on August 29th, 2025, at 1:45pm. There will be a BBQ reception to follow at the Jensen Memorial Youth Ranch in Medical Lake at 2:30pm. All are welcome to join and share stories and memories of Jonathan.
