Many can tell the stories of Jerry Green. Not a day went by in silence in his presence; tales woven over time still buoyant in the memories of the ones he loved, told and retold with increasing frivolity and gusto. Childhood stories he shared with his two younger brothers, Larry and Terry, and sister, Kareen, all of varying levels of adventure and mischief. Embarrassing anecdotes he frequently teased about his three children, Kimberly, Daryl, and Lorrie. Retelling accomplishments of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of which he wore like a badge of honor. Or the one and only love story he endlessly bragged about; meeting his wife on a blind date and proposing on the third. Carol and Jerry had just celebrated their 62nd anniversary in June. She was something that never slipped his mind, even in the end. Though the self-chronicling of his life was not always as spot on as others might remember, he had an amazing talent for captivating an audience and making people laugh. His laughter radiated energy like bouncing particles, one flying into another and in an infinitely contagious echo chamber of love and joy. He commanded a room with a winning smile and sharp wit. Even a simple outing resulted in sharing quips with anyone who would listen. No one was a stranger, everyone who was willing and able could be his friend for a second. Jerry was a dedicated father, supporting and caring for his children and their children thoughtfully and consistently. He was steadfast in attending important milestones and capturing life's shining fragments on film; every fish ever caught by his grandchildren were immortalized in family photo albums. There was a dependability that his children and grandchildren could rely on. But essentially, his wide branching love stemmed from his devotion to his wife. Carol was the center of his universe, almost to a cloying extent, never missing an opportunity to shower her with flowers and pretty things. They took care of each other, and he never missed a beat. People in Jerry's orbit were persistently blessed with his willingness to help. Always in a crawl space or up on a roof, Jerry was incredibly skilled in handiwork and cared deeply for his neighbors and friends. He called Rim Rock Cove his home for 20 years, never stopping at a chance to make it a beautiful place to live for anyone staying or just passing through. He had an immense amount of pride for this quiet, lakeside community and it showed in all the lives he touched. Whether it was buying children's bicycles for decades worth of fishing derbies, maintaining a community fountain his wife Carol gardened, or even donating and installing playground equipment for all to use. The hole that is left in his passing will be staggeringly vast. Jerry was intensely loved by many and spent his last days with more people than anyone could have prepared for. Those that were lucky enough to see him off will remember that his charm never faded. Between the untimely jokes hurled at unwilling passersby or cheeky winks meant only for his love, unwavering at his side, Jerry was always fully himself.
